Welcome back to our SPEAR Golf Fitness classes! In preparation for the 2020 golf season, SPEAR will be running their circuit classes again, focusing on fitness levels specifically for golf. We ran these sessions for the first time last year; and had some great feedback from participants. Not to mention fantastic reports about improvements on the golf course!
What’s new for the 2019 Winter classes?
This year there will be two locations and two different times for the classes:
- Tuesday evening in the SPEAR Westhill clinic from 6pm to 7pm
- Aberdeen Sports Village on Wednesday morning from 7am to 8am.
You can book in for a block of 6 classes at either venue for £8 / class.
- The first block will start week commencing 7th October
- The second block week commencing 11th November
- The third block week commencing 6th January
- The final block will run from week commencing 17th February
Why should I attend a golf fitness class?
The main goal of the class is to help strengthen key muscle groups specific for golf during the off-season period. In doing so there are many benefits; such as preventing overload injuries sustained at the start of the golf season, improving physical resilience, aiding in any swing changes you are making with your coach; and most importantly improve overall general health and well-being.
What to expect at a golf fitness class.
The class will be comprised in a circuit-based format. Each class will start with a warm-up, some golf specific circuit exercises, a core work and finish with a cool down including some appropriate stretching. As it is a circuit-based class, you can take things at your own pace.
As well as the physical nature of the class, you will find that you may need to become more aware of your body. It would always be advisable that you perform the exercises in a controlled manner and are aware of the muscle groups you are working. The instructor will be actively moving around the class to ensure you are performing exercises correctly.
What do I bring with me to the class?
Wear comfortable exercise clothing and it may be useful to bring a small towel and some water with you. All other equipment needed for the class will be supplied.
