SPEAR Physiotherapy offers a range of Pilates classes in the mornings and evenings in Aberdeen, across our sites at Aberdeen Sports Village and purpose-built clinic in Westhill.
Pilates is a low impact form of exercise designed to strengthen the deep abdominals and gluteal muscles, which all help to support the lower back and hips. By strengthening the core you provide your body with a strong stable base from which to move. We also work on muscles further up the spine and around the shoulder blades to support good posture in the spine as a whole. Physiotherapists rehabilitate clients using exercise therapy every day, so as Chartered Physiotherapists we are perfectly placed to teach Pilates classes.
At SPEAR, our team of instructor’s expert knowledge of the musculoskeletal system and training with the APPI allow us to modify exercises to suit the individual client within a class, which ensures that every client is working at a level appropriate to them. Our Pilates classes are led by Chartered Physiotherapists Ashley Armstrong, Yasmin Milne and Siobhan Laing who have all completed Pilates training with the APPI. Laura McKay is our Pilates Coordinator, and is an APPI Certified Matwork Instructor.
SPEAR Pilates instructors will ensure that you are challenged, but will also ensure precision and control of the exercises so that you gain maximum benefit from them. To familiarise yourself with the 5 basic principles of Pilates, we recommend (if you have never attended a Pilates class before) that you book an appointment with one of the team to ascertain the level at which you will work in the class, and to answer any of your questions beforehand.

- Monday 9.30am and 10.30am
- Thursday 10am, 6pm and 7pm
All classes are 60 minutes long.

I have been taking a weekly Pilates Class with Ashley for about 6 months now. Strength and flexibility are much improved and I seem to be suffering with fewer injuries- touch wood! On top of that, it is fun too!! Highly Recommend.
