Most of us take our brains for granted and assume it will continue its amazing job generally unappreciated. Unfortunately, when a brain injury occurs, or disease affects the central nervous system we suddenly realise that we, as human beings, are run by a super computer. Scientists have described the brain as the most complex thing we have yet discovered in our universe.
When a traumatic brain injury, stroke or disease affects our brain or nervous system, it can devastate lives. The effects from these conditions are varied, but can include difficulty moving, alteration of muscle tone, and distorted sensation.
Neuro Physiotherapy is a highly specialised area of Physiotherapy and is dedicated to improving movement and function when the brain and central nervous system has been affected.
The brain has the ability to form new connections after brain injury known as neuroplasticity. Physiotherapy uses the body’s amazing ability to relearn movement and function.
SPEAR physiotherapy has a team of specialist Physiotherapists who provide Neuro Physiotherapy, both in clinic and in patient’s homes. Our physiotherapy sessions typically last for one hour but sessions can be tailored to individual needs.
Working with someone using hands on techniques to relearn movement is fantastic!! Working at SPEAR we have the skill, time and space to treat people as individuals and get people back to their full potential.
It is such a pleasure to work with patients and families to see this happen.
Our Neuro Physiotherapy team has grown to cope with increasing demand, and we have a team of Physiotherapists who are able to help. For an appointment, or for further information, please call 01224 900102 or Email firstname.lastname@example.org We can discuss your needs with you and discuss how we can help you.
