Sports Massage

Joe Devlin

Joe Devlin is a Sports Massage Therapist who qualified in Neuromuscular Therapy from Dublin College of Complimentary Therapy in 2006. He works with clients of all abilities, from International athletes, competitive footballers, rugby players, golfers, track and field athletes, marathon runners, triathletes and cycists, through to those who don't have a lot of time to exercise due to hectic and stressful lifestyles. He uses a variety of Massage waxes all of which are from his native country of New Zealand. Joe utilises a variety of techniques such as deep tissue massage and trigger point release, to add length to shortened muscles. Dietician

Sophia Lumsden

Sophia graduated from Robert Gordon University in 2005 with a BSc honours degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. She has 5 and a half years experience working in the NHS as a community dietician and currently works full time in the NHS and every second Thursday evening at SPEAR.

She is experienced in the following areas: weight management, nutritional support, allergies and intolerances, irritable bowel syndrome and gastro-intestinal disorders. She also has a keen special interest in sports nutrition.

Podiatrist

Dr Mike Black - Podiatrist

Dr Black is a qualified and extensively experienced Podiatrist who also holds a BSc in Health Studies, an MSc in Sports Medicine and a PhD in Biomechanics.

He is experienced in treating musculoskeletal problems and concentrates on lower limb assessment to establish the cause of problems, what treatment is needed and whether further investigation is required.

He has a keen special interest in sports medicine and biomechanics and works closely with the physiotherapists at SPEAR to ensure the best service possible for our patients.

Sports Doctor

Dr Judy Ross

Joined our team in August 2009. Dr Judy Ross is a GP with a specialist expertise in Sports and Exercise Medicine. Judy is the Sports Medicine Network Co-ordinator for the Grampian Institute of Sport and has an interest in many sports. She has previously worked as Medical Officer for Team GB at the Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City in 2002 and was Medical Advisor for the British Ski and Snowboarding Teams from 1999-2005.

Whilst working closely with our physiotherapists, Judy is also able to provide therapeutic injections where indicated and appropriate and arrange referral for further investigations or surgical opinion if necessary.
